Modbus Gateway MR-GW
In industrial and building automation projects, connecting different fieldbus devices to a network infrastructure is already a reality. The challenge is to connect different manufacturers with different protocol standards into a comprehensive IP network. Sensors and actuators at the fieldbus level that communicate via Modbus RTU must be integrated into a Modbus TCP network. A so-called Modbus gateway is used to convert the Modbus RTU protocol into a Modbus TCP protocol. This is a Modbus RTU/Modbus TCP gateway that primarily converts Modbus RTU protocols into Modbus TCP protocols (or vice versa). The METZ CONNECT Modbus Gateway MR-GW helps to integrate Modbus RTU devices into a Modbus TCP network and offers a very simple and cost-effective communication option for Modbus TCP clients with one or more Modbus RTU slaves. The MR-GW guides the user through the configuration of the device in no time at all via an intuitive menu navigation system. Thanks to its modern and user-friendly responsive design, the device can be conveniently parameterised via a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Compact controller and data logger | NEW: "Node-RED"
The EWIO2 device families are high-performance data loggers and mini controllers (see variants) with numerous interfaces for applications in energy monitoring and energy management systems in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001, as well as for automation tasks in buildings, machines, and systems. Small control tasks can be created intuitively and easily with the graphic programming interface “Node-RED”, integrated in the web server via drag & drop. In the process, prefabricated nodes are linked together to form program flows. Countless flows and nodes from different manufacturers and categories (palettes) can be loaded from the large Node-RED community into the development environment and used. Two Ethernet-Ports with Daisy Chain function and the WLAN interface* are predefined for connection to a LAN or WLAN network and for daisy chaining several network participants. The EWIO2 features the communication protocols Modbus TCP and BACnet/IP (*variants) for connection to the management (e.g., building management system) or automation level (e.g. controllers). Sensors and consumption meters of different media (e.g., energy, water, gas and heat) can be connected and read out via the interfaces M-Bus, S0, Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP. The consumption values of individual data points are stored in the database of the EWIO2 with a time stamp. This data can be sent (push) or read (pull) as a CSV file from the database via e-mail (SSL) or FTP (SFTP). The EWIO2 can also be accessed via Modbus TCP, BACnet/IP, and TCP/IP, and the database queried. A REST-API interface enables direct access to the device from higher-level systems. The configuration, parameterization, and programming of the EWIO2 is done by the web browser directly on the device, meaning no additional software is required. The integrated digital and analog inputs and outputs of the EWIO2-M are designed to connect sensors and actuators from different applications in building or industrial automation.

METZ CONNECT has expanded its range of modular PCB connectors in the M12 series to include D-coded variants in accordance with DIN EN 61076-2-101. The connectors are suitable for up to 100 Mbit and can therefore be used for data transmission with all common Ethernet protocols such as Profinet, EtherCAT, Sercos, Powerlink, etc. Similar to the X-coded PCB sockets, the products are available in various forms depending on the installation situation and application. They are available as front panel and rear panel mountings, fully assembled (MMT361A115 and MMT371A115) or as kits (MMT361A115-0001 and MMT371A115-0001). For use in industrial environments, there are variants that meet IP67 sealing requirements when unplugged (MMT361A115-0009 and MMT371A115-0009). For high-volume device manufacturing and PCB assembly according to the latest manufacturing knowledge, the MMT060A115 PCB inserts are also available as a variant on tape on reel with a Kapton plate as an assembly aid (MMT060A1150-G2). Standard 15-inch reels with 160 pieces per reel are used. A major advantage of this product family is that all PCB sockets and inserts (D- and X-coded) have the same height and can be used in combination on a PCB (printed circuit board). In addition, the PCB sockets have a locking mechanism that holds them securely and reliably in the housing or flange, eliminating the need for additional fixing of the PCB in the housing. This PCB socket automatically expands the range of switch cabinet feed-throughs. In the same fully shielded metal housing, it is now also possible to route 2-pair systems from an IP20 environment to an IP67 environment, which in terms of connectors means RJ45 to M12 D-coded. These products are available in straight and angled versions (MWN811A115 and MWN911A115).

The world of office and industrial cabling is growing ever closer. RJ45 field plug pro – field assembled, fully shielded and multiport-capable
The METZ CONNECT field assembled RJ45 field plug pro is the right choice for structured cabling with industry or data centers with high data transmission rates up to 40 GBit/s where high-performance and reliable connections are needed. The RJ45 field plug pro is available in a 180° straight and 360° angled, 4-pair and 2-pair version. It can easily be connected to all common cable types without much preparation and its new design allows it to be used in restricted spaces. It impresses with its robust zinc die-cast housing and protected latch for industrial use. Its compact design makes the connector multi-port capable while being fully shielded. The RJ45 field plug pro is designed for field assembly without the need for special tools. It is suitable for Power over Ethernet (PoE, PoE plus, UPoE and 4PPoE), HDBaseT or other multimedia applications as well as for industry standards such as PROFINET and EtherNet/IP.
Single Pair Ethernet
The good news is that the further development of Ethernet transmission technology and PoE power supply with currently up to 90 W also creates new applications with Ethernet interfaces. In addition, there is a growing need for uniform, lean transmission technology, both in terms of the transmission protocol and the hardware, connectors and cabling. Ideally, right down to the field level to the sensors and actuators. This should be possible with Single Pair Ethernet (SPE). With the start in the automotive industry, the technology begins to find its way into industry and, in the long term, into buildings. The SPE topic has been known for some time and since the SPS 2019 trade fair at the latest, it has made itself felt in all media. Ethernet terminal blocks
